The Saudi Ministry of Transport has said that our goal is to reduce the number of deaths from traffic accidents on highways across the country to zero.

According to Al Arabiya Net, the Ministry of Transport has laid a network of more than 2,000 km of roads in different parts of the country during 2020 and Saudi Arabia's highways are of international standard.

The Ministry of Transport has also implemented several road improvement and repair projects, thanks to which the proportion of traffic accidents in the country has been reduced to 21%.

The proportion of people seriously injured in traffic accidents has dropped to 20%.

The Ministry of Transportation says it has displayed various signs on more than 427,000km of roads. In addition, an information system on accidents has been set up with the help of smart devices.

Deputy Transport Minister Badr al-Dulmi said the ministry had built more than 73,000km of roads over the past decades. These include highways. There are also two-lane roads and one-way lanes.

The Ministry of Transport inaugurated 2,000 km of roads last year, bringing the total length of paved roads to 75,000 km.

The ministry has implemented 33 new transport projects in six areas, he said.

Al-Dalmi said that Saudi Arabia has won the first position in terms of highway network. Saudi Arabia is top of ten countries in the world in reference of safe highways and motorways.
